The hunting season aint over yet!

Finding love isn’t something you just dream and it happens. Even Cupid, the master of love himself can't spur singles to action faster than a New Year's resolution.

So December is over … a month packed with lonely hearts typing away on dating sites in order to find love so as not to spend the holidays alone. Well that is done. So why is that January marks the busiest and most profitable month for online dating services? Is it because many people were caught up in the holiday love craze and come January they realize they made a mistake? Or is it that singles are going online in record numbers to find dates for Valentine's Day?

"You get this massive surge. People start to re-evaluate their lives. They don't want to marry this person. Or they want to break up with their boyfriends. Or they haven't had a date in a while. And they all set their New Year's resolutions to find someone," said Markus Frind, founder of one of the famous dating sites.

Well if it’s about the resolutions, then I am sure most dating sites expect a big spike in traffic from new and current members this month. According to some poll, the top of the list in relation to New Year resolutions is finding love.

For the online dating industry, this time of year is like a perfect storm … from Thanksgiving and Christmas, then the going-out holidays, New Year Eve's all the way to Valentine's Day.

I guess this has got much to do with the December hangover from family gatherings when all those personal questions you cant answer get asked – ‘Who are you dating? Are there wedding bells?' And come New Year's Eve, people always want to be with their loved ones … their better half. And this entire love craze builds up toward Valentine's Day making the loneliness factor rise. And suddenly, everyone turns to Cupid ... carrying around some bow and arrow. It’s the hunting season for love ;-)

I guess this surge is similar to the gym theory where people hit the treadmills every January to fulfill their resolutions to lose weight. And as we all know these gym resolution-inspired members will eventually fall to the lure of happy hour and the numbers start dropping.

Is this the same online dating? Should we expect traffic to drop after Valentine’s Day?

Well I guess the holidays have a way of bringing out one’s strong sense to feel connected to somebody. When the holidays come and go, it's not on our minds as much, we all get busy. So you still may be alone but the feeling isn’t as strong as Christmas time. Well, with all these singles logging on, it means that January marks a new beginning for those that failed to find love the previous year. Let’s hope their choices will be a lot better this year.

Yeah, i guess everyone feels that emptyness espcially over the holidays, coz there is so much display of love everywhere. Holidays are such a lonely time when you are single, especially when you believe in love. Thank God the new year has a way of making you feel alive and ready to embark on looking for the one and only.Wish you all a fruitful time in your search.

What hunting season you are talking about? Search for romance as nothing to do with hunting... Hunting= predator+prey... Who is the hunter and who is the prey... Romance is a super-full time job, full right, and full duty. "One has a right to be loved and one has a duty to love."

LOVE is 24/7 12 months a year for women... For men...well perhaps it is early morning Reguardless...even though marriages seem to be on the down swing...I don't think love is... people need and want people... I know I am looking forward to meeting someone special or at least have some fun doing it! Southern smiels, Sharon
